Pocahontas

Comedic relief through animals eating shows up first in Cinderella, and reappears with a bang in Pocahontas. Meeko the raccoon and Percy the pug are the animal companions of Pocahontas and Governor Ratcliffe respectively, and they both have insatiable appetites. These two animals develop their hungry reputations individually before they meet in the movie and start a playful war of stealing each other’s food. Percy is frequently surrounded by ample supplies of food because he is the pet of a nobleman, and between more intense scenes dealing with humans from different worlds colliding, the petty fighting among animals for snacks is used for comedic relief. In one scene, Percy is taking a bath with a bowl full of cherries nearby, before Meeko swoops in and steals every cherry for himself. In another, Percy is enjoying a carousel with hanging bones, when Meeko swiftly snatches them, all while the Governor is having a conniption in the background about his lack of riches. Both of these creatures are seen with their mouths full to bursting more than once, and are perhaps primarily characterized by their hunger.
This relates back to Cinderella again with Gus, and the theme in general of ample images of animals eating and very few of humans doing so.
The only time we see the Native Americans dealing with food for themselves in this movie is while they gather it, but we never actually see them eat it.
